Salary Range: $31.20 – $44.56 per hour (Based on Skills & Experience)

Available Schedules:

Option 1
  • Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday
  • 8:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
Option 2
  • Wednesday & Thursday: 9:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday: 4:00 p.m. – 2:30 a.m.

About the Role

The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is a safety-sensitive, first-line supervisory position responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient maintenance and repair of RTS revenue and non-revenue vehicles, as well as several RTS buildings and facilities. This position supervises maintenance employees, coordinates daily operations, and ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with RTS standards. Weekend responsibilities include opening and closing Service Building operations and overseeing Service Building personnel in addition to garage operations.

You'll Do
  • Supervise daily fleet maintenance operations during assigned shifts.
  • Lead and support maintenance employees to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work.
  • Coordinate the maintenance and repair of revenue and non-revenue vehicles.
  • Oversee maintenance activities within RTS service buildings and facilities.
  • Open and close Service Building operations on weekends.
  • Monitor maintenance schedules, workflow, and repair priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with RTS safety policies and DOT/FTA regulations.
  • Review maintenance documentation, reports, and work orders.
  • Communicate effectively with managers, technicians, operators, and other departments.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to employees.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of heavy vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to obtain a New York State CDL Class B permit prior to employment.
  • Must obtain a New York State CDL Class B license with required endorsements within six (6) months of hire (paid training provided).
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and vehicle build drawings.
  • English proficiency required for safety-sensitive communication, technical manuals, and work instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education beyond high school.
  • ASE Certification.
  • Experience in heavy-duty diesel vehicle maintenance.
  • Mechanical and technical repair experience.
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience, including employee coaching, performance evaluations, and disciplinary responsibilities.
  • Experience in public transit or commercial fleet maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
