Performs custodial, general maintenance and repair of state‑owned or state‑maintained buildings and grounds, to keep a clean, comfortable, healthy, and safe environment for internal and external customers. Work with power tools, machinery/instruments and equipment, and hand tools requiring the frequent lifting, carrying, and holding of supplies and parts, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Clean rooms and furniture.
- Assist with conference room setups to include rearranging, setting up, or taking down chairs and tables.
- Clean restrooms and restock restroom supplies.
- Maintain floors, including sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, and shampooing.
- Landscaping such as planting, mowing, trimming, and watering.
- Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and parking lots with snow blowers, shovels, and deicers.
- The position activities also require the incumbent to work in adverse weather conditions (cold and heat).
Must possess a valid Class D Driver’s License or an equivalent license from another state and maintain it as a condition of employment.
Knowledge Of- Different types of flooring/floor coverings sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents, and equipment.
- Chemical cleaning agents such as scouring agents and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely.
- Methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs.
- Maintain physical health and endurance sufficient to perform work functions in adverse weather conditions.
- Follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction.
- Keep simple records.
- Previous experience as a General Maintenance Worker.
- Knowledge of painting products and processes of applying.
- Skilled in use and operations of small hand and power tools sufficient to safely operate tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of horticulture practices sufficient to properly care for lawns, trees, and shrubs.
- Knowledge of MnDOT policy, procedure, and practices.
