Salary: $19.00/hour minimum

Custodian

• Completion of eighth grade plus one (1) year paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in building cleaning work.

• Current competitive status as Custodian, or reachable on the competitive eligible list;
• Two years' experience as an Assistant Custodian and One additional year experience in building cleaning work;
• Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position;
• Ability to supervise and get along with others;
• Daily attendance is expected;
• High School Graduate (or possess GED);
• Three (3) years paid full time experience in building cleaning and maintenance activities;
  One year experience as building Custodian;
• currently holds Civil Service title of Custodian or on the current list for Custodian;
• Possess Stationary.

• Perform normal adjustments and routine service to equipment such as but not limited to: boilers or heating system, compressors, unit ventilators, fans, generators, chillers and all custodial maintenance and grounds care equipment;
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repair of or facilitates required repairs to: building structures, plumbing, electrical and ventilation systems and operating equipment;
• Responsible for outside grounds maintenance including but not limited to: lawn mowing, trimming of grass, trees and shrubbery, flower beds maintenance, snow removal, and the proper operation, repair and reports related to playground equipment;
• Maintain inventory and procurement of custodial maintenance equipment, supplies and materials and is responsible for receipt of all incoming supplies and materials;
• Train staff regarding proper cleaning techniques, equipment and material use and provides staff with the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE);
• Assist in proper emergency evacuation procedures;
• On call to return to the facility for any emergency (break-ins, broken windows, fire alarms etc.);
• Other duties as assigned.
