Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Congregational Director of Facilities, the Maintenance Tech II will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and property structures, in addition to performing grounds maintenance. A Maintenance Tech II is a thorough professional with a practical mind and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously and responsibly all while observing safety and health guidelines.

The goal is to maintain the buildings and common areas in the best possible condition.

Job Requirements
  • Perform minor building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and painting repairs as necessary to the mother house facility, equipment, grounds, and properties.
  • Accept, prioritize, and complete work orders for requested repairs.
  • Assist with and conduct preventative maintenance measures.
  • Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace switches, light bulbs, and sockets).
  • Maintain heating, ventilation, and plumbing systems to ensure functionality.
  • Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix locks, replace windows etc.).
  • Refer or consult to equipment manuals or contact manufacturer for trouble shooting information and lists of repair parts.
  • Conduct general maintenance procedures (ground maintenance, snow removal) and other tasks as needed (event set-ups and takedown, cleaning).
  • Work in collaboration with the Lead Maintenance Tech II and the EVS Supervisor, as needed.
  • Valid Drivers License.
Specific Requirements
  • Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods.
  • Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices.
  • Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to recognize, troubleshoot and correct problems.
  • Must have clean, current NYS driver’s license.
  • Good physical condition and strength with ability to lift 50 pounds throughout the work day, and be able to push or pull items weighing up to 300 pounds, to and from various units on tile and carpet floors.
  • Be available for Tech on-call duties, which includes overtime and off hour work. This would be on a rotating basis within the department.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to show initiative and work well with others and independently.
  • Ability to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, vendors and the general public.
  • Must ensure personal safety, monitor work environment and make necessary improvements while ensuring the safety of others.
  • Adhere to regulations set by OSHA, DOH, and facility regulations including fire protection/prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the organization, residents, and staff.
Expectations of the Position
  • Dependable, report to work on-time for every schedule shift (ready to work at beginning - start of shift) and work full schedule shifts unless physically unable or pre-approved Paid Time Off (PTO) which includes personal and vacation.
  • Willing and able to work overtime and weekends as required by the position and/or approved by management.
  • Have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Must be clean and neat in appearance and have a “friendly,” hospitality-oriented, and service-oriented demeanor.
