Laborer​/Seasonal

Performs routine manual work, does related work as required.

CITY RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION

• Collects garbage and rubbish;

• Assists in patching and grading streets;

• Rakes, tamps and shovels asphalt;

• Loads and unloads trucks;

• Excavates and backfills for new construction and repairs;

• Cleans and flushes streets, park areas, culverts and basins;

• Charges mixing machines with cement, sand and stone;

• Clears blocked up sewers;

• Removes snow from streets, parks and recreational areas;

• Assists in the repair of sewers, catch basins, hydrants, mains and services;

• Digs and refills trenches for water pipe lines;

• Cuts grass, trims shrubs, rakes leaves, cuts bush, spades flower beds and assists in ground maintenance activities;

• Assists with forestry improvement, tree planting and wood cutting;

• Cinders streets;

• Grinds axes and scythes and files saws;

• Directs trucks on dump grounds;

• Performs general building and grounds cleaning tasks.

None is required, but some experience in heavy manual labor is desirable.
