Compensation Range: $24.66 to $27.40/hourly, based on experience.
Job Objective:
The objective of this position is to advance The Salvation Army's holistic mission through the development, coordination, and maintenance of all necessary resources to sustain effective disaster relief and to assist the Territorial Disaster Resource Manager with operational needs and special projects as required.

Facility Maintenance
- Perform preventive maintenance on building systems, including lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and basic electrical.
- Inspect and maintain warehouse doors, locks, bay doors, ramps, loading docks, and general infrastructure.
- Conduct minor repairs such as patching walls, painting, replacing bulbs, and fixing leaks.
- Assist with installation or removal of fixtures, shelving, signage, and safety barriers.
- Maintain detailed logs of maintenance work, safety inspections, and repair schedules.
Grounds Maintenance
- Oversee lawn care, snow removal, ice treatment, and exterior cleanup.
- Operate maintenance equipment such as mowers, blowers, snow throwers, or Bobcat attachments as needed.
- Maintain parking lots, sidewalks, drainage areas, and exterior lighting for safety and accessibility.
- Coordinate seasonal preparation (e.g., winterization, storm prep, spring cleanup).
Fleet Maintenance
- Perform basic preventive maintenance and safety inspections on EDS vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
- Manage oil changes, fluid checks, tire inspections, and battery testing on fleet assets.
- Maintain accurate service records and coordinate vendor maintenance for major repairs or inspections.
- Prepare vehicles and trailers for deployment, ensuring all are clean, fueled, and properly equipped.
- Assist with vehicle registration, licensing, decals, and DOT compliance tracking.
- Support the towing and transport of trailers and mobile units for events, trainings, or disaster response.
- Ensure fueling stations, power equipment, and related tools are maintained in working condition.
- Assist with loading/unloading vehicles and organizing fleet-related storage areas.
- Hand ongoing detailing inside/and outside of vehicles, keeping fuel tanks full and checking IPASS/WEX Cards/plate stickers etc.
Equipment & Systems Care
- Conduct regular inspections of mechanical systems and power equipment such as generators, compressors, and HVAC units.
- Perform routine checks on facility tools, extension cords, and electrical systems to ensure safety compliance.
- Track maintenance supplies and notify supervisor of restock needs.
- Maintain organized maintenance storage areas and tool stations.
Safety & Compliance
- Conduct routine safety walkthroughs and address hazards immediately.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EDS, and Salvation Army safety standards.
- Support the installation and upkeep of emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, and alarm systems.
- Participate in scheduled safety audits and assist with corrective actions.
Vendor & Contractor Coordination
- Work with approved vendors for specialized maintenance and repairs (HVAC service, electrical, plumbing, roofing, etc.).
- Assist with vendor access and escort during facility or fleet work.
- Monitor and report vendor performance or maintenance issues to the supervisor.
General Support
- Assist EDS staff and volunteers during events, trainings, and emergency activations with setup, power needs, and facility readiness.
- Provide support during upgrades, remodel projects, and equipment installations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the facility and fleet remain mission-ready.
Minimum Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, certifications, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education cleared of underlining;
High school diploma or equivalent required; trade or vocational certification preferred
Experience
Two plus years of experience in facility, mechanical, or fleet maintenance.
Certifications
- Valid driver’s license.
- Forklift certification (training can be provided).
- FEMA ICS-100 and ICS-200 required within 90 days of hire.
