What Do Pest Control Technicians Do?The primary purpose of this role is to perform industry‑leading pest management services for commercial customers. Technicians identify and eliminate pests from residential and commercial properties by conducting thorough inspections, determining the type of infestation, applying appropriate treatments and providing preventative measures—all while adhering to safety regulations and communicating solutions to clients.
Responsibilities- Apply approved pest control products, including chemicals, baits, and traps, while adhering to safety standards.
- Educate customers on pest prevention methods and reduce future infestation risks.
- Build customer relationships, schedule and confirm appointments, assist with sales, and expand products to new clients.
- Maintain, stock, and ensure pest control equipment is in good working condition.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations regarding pest control products and safety protocols.
- Drive and safely operate a company‑provided service vehicle, subject to routine maintenance.
- Effectively communicate with internal team and clients.
- Maintain a client‑focused, self‑motivated approach with effective time‑management skills.
- Perform quality pest inspections and treatments in commercial food, pharmaceutical, and related environments.
- Manage inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Support client food safety management systems to protect the food supply and environment.
- Provide excellent client care, problem‑solving, and listening skills.
- Show flexibility and willingness to work variable hours.
- High school diploma, GED, related experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Availability to work Monday‑Friday and weekends as needed.
- Openness to learning and becoming knowledgeable in all areas of pest control.
- Solid reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- Basic math skills for following product label mixing instructions.
- Customer‑facing experience preferred.
Hourly: $18.00 - $25.00. Pay may vary by location, skills, education, and experience. Overtime, incentives, commissions, performance, and route assignment can also affect total earnings.
