Lead Maintenance Mechanic
Berkeley, IL (On-site)
Compensation: $35.00 to $45.00 per hour plus discretionary bonus
Schedule:
Monday through Thursday, 10-hour shifts
About the Role
A fourth-generation, family-owned manufacturer is looking for a skilled and motivated Maintenance Mechanic to join a small, tight-knit team at its Berkeley, IL facility. This is a hands-on role maintaining a fleet of specialized production equipment in a stable, well-organized manufacturing environment. Safety is top priority and the equipment is well maintained, and the team takes real pride in keeping it running at a high level.
This is also a long-term growth role. The current Maintenance Manager is retiring in a few years and is looking for someone to learn the operation from the ground up and grow into the lead maintenance position over time. If you want to plant roots, build deep expertise, and eventually own the maintenance function at a stable, respected manufacturer, this is worth a serious look.

Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on mechanical maintenance and repair across a variety of production equipment
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues and implement timely, effective solutions to minimize downtime
- Perform basic electrical work including motor swaps, VFD reading, and PLC troubleshooting
- Execute preventive maintenance schedules and maintain accurate maintenance records
- Work closely with the Maintenance Manager to learn the full scope of the operation and build toward a lead maintenance role
- Maintain a safe, organized, and well-functioning maintenance environment
- Occasional travel to the Naperville facility as needed; not a requirement
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; AAS degree, maintenance certifications, or an equivalent of 3+ years of maintenance experience in a military or manufacturing industrial setting is preferred
- Basic electrical skills preferred including motor replacement, VFD reading, and PLC troubleshooting
- Manufacturing, industrial or military maintenance experience is required; attitude and willingness to learn are weighted heavily
- Military veterans are strongly encouraged to apply

Compensation and Benefits
