Shady Grove Medical Center

Overview

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Stationary Engineer 1st Class to support our mission of extending God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and control all plant equipment, including boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and associated equipment.
  • Maintain, service, and repair all boilers, chillers, generators, and related equipment daily.
  • Coordinate outside contractor support when needed, or assist in facilitating the completion of large repairs and projects.
  • Obtain appropriate approval from leadership and properly document all transactions.
  • Complete assigned monthly preventative maintenance work orders on time; document all work performed in the CMMS computer database.
  • Record data such as temperature, hours of operation, fuel consumption, temperature or pressure, water levels, voltage load, and generator balance; record operation and maintenance actions taken during the shift in the operator’s logbook or the electronic system.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in commercial or hospital central utility plant operations required.
  • 1st Class Stationary Engineer License, State of Maryland.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.
  • Strong knowledge of boiler safety and power distribution.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to prioritize and remain calm in demanding situations.
  • Able to use hand and power tools.
Work Schedule

Employment Type:

Full‑time
Hours Per Week: 40 hours per week
Typical Daily

Schedule:

Rotating shifts – 2 (230 p.m.–11 p.m. shifts during the week, 2 12‑hour weekend shifts)
Shift Type:
Rotating evening and night

Follow company holiday calendar

Compensation

Pay Range: $27.70 – $40.16 per hour
