Job Summary and Essential FunctionsThe Facility Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for maintaining and managing the upkeep of municipal facilities including the Community Center, Aquatic Center, Public Works Facility, and City Hall. The Community Center and Aquatic Center will serve as the primary focus of the position. Duties will include facility cleaning and maintenance, Community Center room setup and support for programs and events, and scheduling and supervision of evening and weekend part-time staff to ensure facilities remain clean, safe, and operational.
Working hours are Monday through Friday, 6:45 AM to 3:45 PM, with occasional evening and weekend hours as needed.
Through observation, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance practices, this position will identify facility maintenance needs and communicate repair and replacement recommendations to the Parks and Recreation Superintendent. Repairs may be completed in-house or through coordination with outside contractors as appropriate.
The Facility Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting aquatic facility systems including chemical feed equipment, pumps, filtration systems, plumbing, electrical components, and related infrastructure. This position serves as the primary point of contact for facility mechanical systems and assists in ensuring City facilities remain safe, functional, and ready for public use.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Seasonal grounds maintenance duties such as leaf removal, mulching, planting, plant pruning/trimming, mowing, grass trimming, weeding and watering of all landscaped areas. Provide, schedule and keep record of preventative maintenance checks on all equipment & facility appliances. Responsible for snow removal on sidewalks, using a truck with snowplow to assist in clearing snow from parking areas at the facilities may also be required on occasion.
Maintain and complete cleaning schedule for all areas within the Community Center. Hire, delegate and supervise work done by part time custodial staff. Order and maintain inventory of cleaning and facility operational supplies. Monitor facility conditions and identify maintenance, repair, and replacement needs. Maintain maintenance records, inspection logs, and operational documentation. Coordinate repairs and maintenance activities performed by outside contractors and vendors.
This position is a working supervisor role that combines hands‑on facility maintenance responsibilities with supervision of part‑time custodial staff and coordination of facility operations.
Primary DutiesAbility to prioritize maintenance and operational needs across multiple public facilities while ensuring a high‑quality appearance and positive experience for the public. A general knowledge of electrical, plumbing, aquatic, and mechanical equipment with an ability to troubleshoot issues. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, contractors, City staff, and the public in a professional manner. Possess physical ability to walk, kneel or stand for prolonged periods of time, perform moderate to heavy lifting, exposure to fumes and/or chemicals, heights and be subject to moderate physical exertion in extreme hot and cold temperatures.
Ability to independently organize work, manage multiple priorities, and respond to facility emergencies. Ability to maintain maintenance records, inspection logs, inventory records, and electronic communications.
