Position Overview
The Janitorial Crew Member is a full-time, union‑represented role on the Janitorial Services Team, reporting to the Lead or Manager. The position requires maintaining cleanliness and safety across a property.
Work ScheduleDays and nights vary, including weekends. Shifts available: 5 am–11 am, five days per week.
Summary of Duties- Clean and maintain building floor surfaces, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, degumming and spot cleaning.
- Clean furniture, walls, glass, mirrors, fixtures, machines and other equipment (dust, wash, vacuum, polish).
- Gather and empty trash.
- Service, clean and supply restrooms.
- Move furniture, light fixtures or other items manually or with hand truck.
- Extract carpet (small jobs).
- Execute proper use of all equipment.
- Clean and maintain cleaning equipment (rags, mops, machines, tools, buckets) per instructions.
- Prepare cleaning solutions (water, detergents, chemicals) according to specifications.
- Monitor and report facility issues requiring repairs (notify Lead, Site or Zone Manager).
- Monitor building security and safety (lock doors after operating hours, ensure electrical appliances are turned off).
- Properly stack and replace cleaning items and tools.
- Ensure supplies are available for each shift.
- Report supply requisition needs to Lead/Manager.
- Experience in building and warehouse cleaning work.
- Ability to follow detailed oral or written instructions.
- Communication skills to relate to officials, staff and public courteously.
- Disposition to perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safety data sheets (generally in English; may have Spanish where state required).
