Janitorial Crew Member

Position Overview

The Janitorial Crew Member is a full-time, union‑represented role on the Janitorial Services Team, reporting to the Lead or Manager. The position requires maintaining cleanliness and safety across a property.

Days and nights vary, including weekends. Shifts available: 5 am–11 am, five days per week.

• Clean and maintain building floor surfaces, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, degumming and spot cleaning.
• Clean furniture, walls, glass, mirrors, fixtures, machines and other equipment (dust, wash, vacuum, polish).
• Gather and empty trash.
• Service, clean and supply restrooms.
• Move furniture, light fixtures or other items manually or with hand truck.
• Extract carpet (small jobs).
• Execute proper use of all equipment.
• Clean and maintain cleaning equipment (rags, mops, machines, tools, buckets) per instructions.
• Prepare cleaning solutions (water, detergents, chemicals) according to specifications.
• Monitor and report facility issues requiring repairs (notify Lead, Site or Zone Manager).
• Monitor building security and safety (lock doors after operating hours, ensure electrical appliances are turned off).
• Properly stack and replace cleaning items and tools.
• Ensure supplies are available for each shift.
• Report supply requisition needs to Lead/Manager.

• Experience in building and warehouse cleaning work.
• Ability to follow detailed oral or written instructions.
• Communication skills to relate to officials, staff and public courteously.
• Disposition to perform other duties as assigned.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safety data sheets (generally in English; may have Spanish where state required).
