Position Overview
The City of Rolling Meadows Finance Department is seeking a customer-focused, detail-oriented Utility Billing Specialist to support daily utility billing operations and provide exceptional service to residents. Under general supervision, the Utility Billing Specialist performs a variety of clerical, administrative and financial duties related to utility billing, including maintaining resident accounts, processing payments and billing adjustments.
This position is available due to the upcoming retirement of a long-tenured employee and offers an opportunity to continue a well-established function within the Finance Department.

Key Responsibilities- Maintain and update customer utility billing accounts and records
- Process payments, billing transactions, account adjustments and related financial activity
- Respond professionally to resident inquiries regarding utility bills, usage, payments and service concerns
- Assist with cashiering, account reconciliation, accounts receivable and related financial support activities
- Prepare written correspondence, notices and reports
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.
- Experience involving billing, payment processing, data entry, account reconciliation or cash handling preferred.
- Experience with Tyler Munis ERP preferred.
- Prior work in municipal government preferred.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Ability to maintain patience, professionalism and tact
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experience handling financial transactions, billing or account reconciliations
- Sound judgment and ability to work independently
The budgeted salary range is $64,314 to $91,879 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.

This position is represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
ScheduleMonday through Friday, during regular business hours.
