RF Optimization Engineer II in Rolling Meadows, IL

Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote

Experience Level

• Collect and analyze hourly and daily performance metrics to optimize 5G & LTE networks
• Support feature-related projects, new node integration, and centralized network initiatives
• Troubleshoot hardware and performance issues, independently or with cross-functional teams
• Evaluate and improve poor coverage areas by identifying system performance gaps
• Report issues to appropriate engineering teams and follow through to resolution
• Support customer service issue resolution and assist with drive test data collection
• Contribute to performance evaluations and network build prioritization

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field
• 5+ years of wireless network performance engineering experience (LTE/4G & 5G-)
• Strong understanding of 3
  
  GPP standards (LTE, 5G NSA & SA)
• Expert knowledge of RAN architecture and signaling protocols:
• RRC
• S1AP
• X2AP
• NGAP
• Experience with drive testing & post-processing tools and geo-location platforms
• Hands-on experience with Ericsson / Nokia / Samsung RAN performance tools
• Strong scripting & data analysis skills: SQL, Python, R
• Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills

• Master’s degree in a relevant technical field
• Experience with vRAN / Open RAN / cloud-native RAN performance
• Knowledge of core network elements (EPC, 5GC) and their impact on RAN
• Relevant vendor or networking certifications
