Development Project Manager is all about the details: tasks, resources, deadlines, accuracy, and coordination between different process participants.

Responsibilities
  • Interact with account managers and directly with clients to clearly understand their business needs and expectations.
  • Build positive working relationships with clients and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Act as the primary contact for client technical queries and concerns relating to their development projects.
  • Attend project-based client meetings as required, reminding the client when feedback is delayed.
  • Define the agenda and lead the prototype review meeting with the client; document all changes and disseminate them throughout the organization.
  • Provide comprehensive meeting minutes from all client or internal project meetings, detailing actions and deadlines.
  • Serve as the key contact for all internal resource teams for development project details and requirements.
  • Remind the account manager, the client, and the development team of upcoming deadlines; warn when a deadline looks likely to slip.
  • Ensure the client understands what was done and why, relating it back to the development brief.
  • Capture client feedback in a structured manner so each iteration moves the deliverable closer to finalization.
Project Management
  • Co‑coordinate with Client Business Development or Account Management to ensure all development projects are completed within agreed parameters.
  • Prepare project proposal and scoping document, responding to RFP requirements with deliverables, timelines, and budget.
  • Create the development project plan, schedule, and budget according to client requirements.
  • Assess potential risks and technical challenges and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Determine resource requirements and identify resources with the right skills.
  • Launch development “kick‑off” meetings and debrief relevant departments; ensure requirements are clearly understood.
  • Set and communicate deadlines for key tasks, negotiating with account managers and the development team.
  • Ensure the development team has all necessary files, briefs, and clear deadlines.
  • Juggle resources and adjust schedules as needed while maintaining open communication.
  • Establish and evaluate timelines (Gantt charts) and prepare detailed project milestone plans.
  • Liaise with internal resources to specify manufacturing materials and processes that meet budget, timeline, and quality requirements.
  • Assist with prototype and production estimates where required.
  • Set up project numbers and sub‑sections for cost recording.
  • Maintain quality control parameters for internal and supplier manufacturing.
  • Continuously review the project plan, implementing control measures as necessary.
  • Develop cost reduction initiatives with internal and external resources while maintaining quality.
  • Brief internal resources on prototype requirements and assist with subcontractor briefing.
  • Analyze and resolve project issues in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Coordinate daily with design, engineering, prototype managers, estimating, account services, and finance to execute projects within deadlines and budget.
  • Monitor quality and ensure changes are recorded throughout the prototype process.
  • Liaise with design, engineering, and estimating teams to outline specification changes or upgrades and assess cost impact, reporting it to the client promptly.
  • Prepare cost and budget reconciliations, taking corrective action when projects run over budget.
  • Liaise with account services to verify prompt invoicing of client invoices.
  • Ensure prototypes are photographed to a high standard for corporate presentation.
  • Ensure all project documentation is complete, accurate, and timely; archive files for future access.
  • Partner with Production Project Managers to transition from development to production, ensuring accurate production engineering drawings and BOMs.
  • Create an environment of continuous improvement by reviewing methodologies, procedures, and materials.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, engineering, business operations, or related experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience as a Project Manager.
