Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join us as a Process Engineer based onsite in Rolling Meadows, IL.

The selected candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Engineering team, where they will work on Infrared Countermeasures (IRCM) suite of products as a Test Engineer. Manufacturing Engineers thrive in an environment of daily unique challenges and proximity to products.

Partnering with production, successful test engineers lead troubleshooting and ensure excellence in hardware and software. Engineers who do well in this setting enjoy seeing their work perform in a test or a product, collaborate and communicate well across functions, and are innovative problem solvers. Best suited to this role are those who enjoy learning and bring a sense of urgency and energy to their tasks.

What you will get to do:
Support for Production:
* Support the production floor and assembly technicians with timely technical guidance

* Support/collaborate with Design Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Quality organizations to meet manufacturing contractual commitment

* Perform hands-on troubleshooting of IRCM Sensors
Process Development/Maintenance:
* Generate and maintain/revise Manufacturing Engineering process specifications, work instructions, routers, tooling/fixturing and equipment

* Investigate, design, and provide solutions to support nonconformance repair procedures, review/generate change notices, etc.
Continuous improvement:
* Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost, cycle time, defects.

* Analyze assembly/workmanship failures and failure data to identify trends; create failure analysis materials such as failure charts, quad charts, and customer presentations

* Lead/support root cause investigations and implement corrective actions

* Work with suppliers to resolve technical hardware issues
Design:
* Collaborate with design engineering to achieve producibility in new and updated product design

* Contribute to research, design, development, and assembly activities for a variety of development products; execute hardware assembly and integration activities

* Lead / support Non-Recurring (NRE) projects, including test fixture/tooling design, drawings, parts lists / bills of materials, updating process documentation, and validation The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Basic Qualifications for the Process Engineer:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology or a related STEM field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience

* Experience with fixture/tooling design and implementation

* Experience with continuous improvement, data analysis, and root cause/corrective action

* Experience with Microsoft Office

* Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance

* U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with Nx / CAD

* Experience in manufacturing environment

* Experience supporting design/development projects

* Experience presenting to key stakeholders
