Weichai America, a subsidiary of the world’s leading powertrain and energy equipment manufacturer, is seeking a highly driven Project Manager to support the execution of turnkey electric power generation (EPG) projects, with a strong focus on mission‑critical applications such as data centers. This role is pivotal in coordinating all phases of packaged generator system delivery, including engineering coordination, procurement, vendor management, and customer support through commissioning and closeout.
The ideal candidate is technically astute, experienced in EPG or electrical infrastructure projects, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced environment with global stakeholders.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor work visas for this position.
Key Responsibilities- Project Planning and Execution:
Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of technical projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies. - Scope Management:
Define and manage project scope, ensuring all deliverables are outlined clearly and modifications are documented and approved. - Lead the end‑to‑end execution of EPG projects from order acceptance to final commissioning and customer handoff.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, lead the planning, execution, and delivery of technical projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budget, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
- Review technical specifications and submittals to confirm alignment with customer requirements and application‑specific demands (e.g., Tier 4 emissions compliance, UL listing, site layout constraints).
- Point of contact:
Act as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, providing regular updates, status reports, and risk assessments. Ensure that expectations are aligned and any changes are communicated promptly. - Team Leadership and
Collaboration:
Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Engineering, operations, Service etc.) and external partners, fostering effective communication to ensure project milestones are met. - Continuous Improvement:
Contribute to process improvement initiatives by identifying areas for optimization and implementing best practices for project management and delivery. - Oversee the procurement and logistics of major system components including:
Switchgear, circuit breakers, and controls;
Aftertreatment and emissions systems;
Enclosures, skids, and fuel tanks;
Issue and track purchase orders, delivery schedules, and inventory across domestic and international suppliers. - Provide on‑site technical coordination during installation and commissioning; resolve field issues and drive root‑cause resolution.
- Support field technicians, integrators, and customers with troubleshooting, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Ensure commissioning, testing, and performance validation is completed per customer and code requirements.
- Compile and deliver accurate project closeout documentation, including warranty registration and O&M manuals.
- Willingness to travel domestically up to 50% of the time.
- Certification as a Project Management Professional or similar professional training in project management tools a plus.
- Minimum 3 years of project management experience in power generation, electrical infrastructure, packaged gensets, or construction of mission‑critical systems.
- Must be proficient in reading and interpreting topographical maps.
- Data center or mission critical expertise for greater than 3 years or significant individual projects. Hands‑on coordination with vendors, EPCs, and equipment integrators required.
- Familiarity with diesel and natural gas gensets, UL891/1558 switch gear, Tier 4 systems, and paralleling controls.
