The Monitoring and Testing Compliance Specialist supports the firm’s Compliance Program and Enterprise Risk Management strategy for the Financial Business Line which includes Retirement Plan Consulting, Investment Consulting, Life & Annuity Brokerage, Executive Life & Benefits, and Wealth Management practices. The position will be responsible for day-to-day execution of ongoing monitoring, testing, and risk‑assessment activities designed to evaluate adherence to regulatory requirements and policies and procedures.
This role will also assess the effectiveness of internal controls, identify compliance gaps, recommend corrective actions, and support the continuous improvement of the firm’s compliance and enterprise risk management framework.
- Maintain, review and update the Firm’s Risk and Compliance Matrix (RaCM) of internal controls across strategic, operational, legal, financial, and reputational risk categories.
- Perform regular testing to ensure adherence to key compliance and operational policies and procedures, including but not limited to requirements related to the Code of Ethics, Reg S-P, fiduciary responsibilities, portfolio management, books & records, contracting, and conflict of interest management.
- Track, verify, and document remediation efforts in coordination with control owners.
- Maintain testing results for audit and regulatory examination purposes.
- Identify emerging control weaknesses and risks; escalate significant issues to senior compliance leadership.
- Utilize spreadsheet, dashboarding, or data visualization tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau) to provide reporting for delivery to the appropriate governance committees.
- Contribute to enhancements of compliance testing methodologies, documentation standards, and technology-enabled workflows.
- Assist in the drafting of policies and procedures.
Required:
Law degree and 5 years related experience required.
Preferred:
- 7+ years of experience in compliance, audit, or risk management within an RIA or financial services firm.
- Strong knowledge of SEC Rule 206(4)-7, ERISA, fiduciary obligations, and financial services regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in compliance systems and Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Experience contributing to enterprise‑level risk programs, including reporting for senior leadership or the Board.
- Prior experience conducting audits, independent testing, or control assessments.
We offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation package. The base salary range represents the anticipated low end and high end of the range for this position. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
