C.H. Robinson is seeking a Credit Manager to join our team. You will play a critical leadership role in driving the success of our credit operations, shaping and implementing credit policies, managing a disciplined team, and overseeing credit evaluations and portfolio performance. This hybrid position will be based in the Chicagoland area or Eden Prairie, MN, with an expectation to be in-office one day per week.

  • Coach and mentor using the Socratic method, asking questions to get at the why behind the what for outcomes.
  • Develop strengths among the team to identify upstream KPIs and foster forward‑looking thinking.
  • Support credit and commercial teams on leadership discussions, including executive level calls, to share insights and gather financial information for decision‑making.
  • Provide economic insights in regular business reviews, leveraging analytics to uncover opportunities for growth, increase sales, and retain customers through strategic solutions.
  • Serve as an escalation point for credit policy exceptions and operational challenges.
  • Establish and monitor credit limits to minimize exposure while supporting business growth.
  • Continuously evaluate operational processes for effectiveness and efficiency, applying Lean practices to streamline credit operations.
  • Facilitate problem‑solving activities to address root causes of inefficiencies and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Foster cross‑functional collaboration with sales, operations, and finance teams.
  • Prepare and present regular financial and credit performance reports to leadership, highlighting key metrics and trends.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and global regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and enhance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to achieve operational excellence.
  • Leverage technology to improve efficiency and automation in credit and financial processes.
  • Stay updated on global economic trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in credit and collections tools to drive better decisions and mitigate risk.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop credit teams across multiple regions, establishing global practices and consistent application of best practices.
  • Outline employee role accountabilities, manage performance, and provide coaching, feedback, and development activities.
  • Commit to long‑term personal and professional growth of team members and support their advancement.
  • Encourage employee feedback, acknowledge and act on it, and cultivate a culture of open, inclusive communication and continuous improvement.
  • Gather data and provide input to support creation of financial performance goals, including revenue and expense budgets.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of financial reporting, operations, finance, and/or credit experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years leading and managing teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.

Preferred:

  • Deep financial knowledge and strong written and verbal communication skills at an executive level.
  • Application of Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent process‑improvement methodology in leadership.
  • CCE or other credit‑related certification(s).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, credit rating software, and ERP systems.
  • Strong partnership, consulting, and influencing skills across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to implement changes effectively and motivate change within a large, dispersed organization.
