The City of Rolling Meadows is seeking a motivated IT Intern – Web Content Editor in the Information Technology Department. This paid, on-site internship will provide hands-on opportunities to manage and enhance the City's website by creating and updating content, improving the user experience, monitoring site performance and supporting digital communications. The IT Intern will develop skills in web content management and emerging web technologies and help build an accessible online presence for the City.
EssentialFunctions
- Produce and publish new content in a creative way
- Liaise with in-house team members to maintain and update current site pages
- Oversee layout (images, graphics, videos and artwork)
- Check content for accuracy
- Proofread and edit material
- Collaborate with City Staff to improve article presentation
- Use SEO and social media
- Ensure content is up-to-date
- Comply with copyright and privacy regulations
- Monitor website's traffic to measure popularity
- Keep track of developments in web technology
Minimum Qualifications
- Current enrollment in college coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, Web Development or a related field.
- Familiarity with website and content management systems.
- Working knowledge of computer systems, software applications and basic network and system security concepts.
- Familiarity with hardware and software installation and troubleshooting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated initiative, adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies.
- Valid driver's license required.
Work is performed primarily in a climate-controlled office environment with frequent computer use. Occasional travel between City facilities and light lifting of computer equipment or office materials may be required. Schedule This is a part-time, in-person position not to exceed 999 hours per calendar year. The anticipated schedule is 18 to 20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling available to accommodate the selected candidate's academic commitments.
Compensation The hourly pay range for this position is $15.00 to $20.00, depending on qualifications and related experience. As a part-time internship, this position is not eligible for City-sponsored benefits.
