As the primary point of contact for all new commercial claims reports, the Claims Intake Specialist delivers a thorough, organized, and concierge-level intake experience. This critical role guides clients through the initial reporting process, gathers necessary documentation, analyzes policies to determine applicable coverage, flags potential issues, and advises on claim reporting strategy to maximize outcomes before handing the file over to the Claims Manager.

- Claim Intake & FNOL:
Serve as the primary contact for all new commercial claim reports, promptly acknowledging submissions, setting clear expectations, and gathering essential loss data and supporting documentation. - Coverage Analysis:
Read and review client policies to determine which coverages may respond to the reported loss, understand the coverage applications, and identify potential exclusions or red flags early in the process. - Reporting Strategy:
Advise clients on whether a formal claim should be filed or a notice-only approach is more appropriate based on the facts and coverage analysis. - System Setup:
Create the claim instance in Applied Epic, ensuring complete and accurate data entry and document organization. - Seamless Handoff:
Prepare a comprehensive handoff summary for the Claims Manager detailing the loss, applicable policies, gathered information, and potential coverage issues. - Client Advocacy & Escalation:
Route urgent matters (e.g., severe injuries, large litigation) immediately per guidelines, while proactively following up on outstanding intake items to ensure files are ready for carrier submission.
- 3 to 5+ years of commercial insurance experience
- Active Property & Casualty license
- Experience with AMS systems, preferably Applied Epic (preferred not required)
- Strong understanding of commercial coverages and policy analysis (Auto, GL, Property, Workers’ Comp, Cyber, EPL, etc.)
- Experience managing claims reporting and the FNOL process
- Strong, professional communication skills with the ability to guide clients and set expectations
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in a commercial brokerage, TPA, or carrier claims environment
- Industry designations or coursework (AIC, CPCU, ARM, or similar)
