Shift: 1st Shift (Monday–Friday)

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Grinder Operator to join our manufacturing team in Elgin, IL. This position is responsible for operating precision grinding equipment to finish metal components according to engineering specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience working with tight tolerances, precision measuring instruments, and manufacturing blueprints.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate surface, cylindrical, centerless, or OD/ machines.
- Grind metal components to precise dimensions and tolerances.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Measure finished parts using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
- Inspect parts throughout the grinding process to ensure quality standards are met.
- Perform machine adjustments and change grinding wheels as needed.
- Monitor machine performance and report equipment issues to maintenance.
- Deburr and finish parts as required.
- Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
- Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with all safety standards.
- Work closely with quality, production, and engineering teams to ensure customer specifications are met.
- Previous experience operating precision grinding equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with surface, cylindrical, centerless, or OD/ preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Experience working with tight tolerances.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical or vocational machining training is a plus.
