RN - Lactation Consultant

Hourly Pay Range: $40.45 - $62.70. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

• Serves as a consultant to the inpatient units when difficulties with a breastfeeding dyad are beyond the knowledge or training of a staff nurse.
• Consults, develops and implements breastfeeding procedures including follow-up evaluations for breastfeeding patients and assessments of pregnant patients referred by the hospital staff, physician or physician's office staff.
• Serves as a liaison between the community and NWCH providing ongoing expertise, education and support to groups and individuals.
• Provides a communication link between the hospital and physician's office to assure coordination of patient care and maintains communication with physicians concerning patients experiencing breastfeeding problems.
• Works with the appropriate shared governance councils to update policies, procedures and documentation relating to the breastfeeding dyad.

Education
:
Successful completion of an Associate's degree, or diploma from an accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred.

Certification
:

• Certification as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required or obtained within one year of hire.
• BLS from the American Heart Association.

License
:
Current professional Nursing Licensure in the State of IL required.

Experience
: A minimum of three years of experience working with both mothers and newborns.
