Overview
We are seeking a motivated Business Development Specialist to join a growing inside sales team focused on outreach to schools and small districts. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who wants to build a foundation in sales, develop strong communication skills, and grow into future inside or outside sales opportunities.
In this role, you will reengage past customers, activate dormant accounts, and generate new sales opportunities through consistent outbound communication.
Key Responsibilities Sales Outreach & Account Engagement- Conduct high‑volume outbound calls to active customers, dormant accounts, and prospects.
- Present and promote products, services, and current promotions via phone and email.
- Prioritize accounts with past purchase history to drive re‑engagement.
- Utilize established scripts and talk tracks to guide conversations.
- Manage all outreach, communication, and follow‑up within the CRM.
- Build rapport with school decision makers, including purchasing departments, nurses, athletic staff, and administrators.
- Gather and document key purchasing information for assigned accounts.
- Partner with sales staff when escalated or in‑person support is needed.
- Identify upsell opportunities within your book of business.
- Collaborate with the bids and quotes team on transactional sales needs.
- Engage internal teams to resolve customer issues and implement solutions.
- Drive customer awareness, engagement, and repeat purchasing behavior.
- Work closely with team members to achieve shared sales goals.
- Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
- Participate in occasional overnight travel or weekend conferences.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
- Manage a portion of a ~12,000‑account book, focused on single schools and small districts.
- Outreach is primarily phone and email based.
- Conversations are quick and transactional—most prospects already know the brand.
- 75 outbound calls per day
- 2 hours of daily talk time
- Conversion of prospects into active customers
- Demonstrated account growth over time
- Percentage of Gross Margin on Sales Closed
- Account Growth Incentive — Earn additional payout for growing assigned accounts above target thresholds.
Monthly Bonus Target:
Strong performers typically earn ~$1,000/month in commission.
- Direct mentorship for the first 2–4 weeks
- Product line education, systems training, and workflow guidance
- Phone activity by Day 3 with real‑time coaching
- Expectation to operate independently by the end of month one
- Two‑ or four‑year degree
- At least one internship or post‑graduation job (ideally within the past two years)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Interested in building a long‑term sales career
- Outgoing, friendly, and confident on the phone
- Comfortable with high call volume
- Resilient and able to handle rejection
- Clear growth path after one year
- Potential conversion to full‑time role
- Opportunities to advance into inside or outside sales positions
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rolling Meadows, IL.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
