Heavy Equipment Operator II - Landfill Job Rome area,Georgia USA,Maintenance/Cleaning

JOB SUMMARY:

The work of this position involves operating various pieces of heavy equipment such as a motor grader, articulating dump truck bulldozer, pan and trash compactor utilized at the landfill. The Utility Operator will also function as a part-time Scale House Attendant (See Scale House Attendant job description for detail).

KNOWLEDGE,

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

:

Knowledge of policies and procedures pertaining to landfill use.
Knowledge of achieving grade, drainage, and proper compaction.
General knowledge of how to operate, maintain, and repair assigned heavy machinery and equipment.
Skill in operating heavy equipment such as motor grader, compactor, pan, front-end loader, articulated dump truck and bulldozer.
Skills in communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Skill in following oral directions.

Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
Ability to perform physical labor in adverse and inclement weather conditions.
Ability to perform the duties of the Scale House Attendant operations in their absence.
Must be able to come to work promptly and regularly.
Must be able to work well with others and take directions from assigned supervisors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Must have general knowledge in the operation and maintenance of bulldozer, backhoe, mini-track hoe, front-end loader; direct experience helpful.
Position is subject to call-in and overtime work; possible shift rotation during emergency conditions.
Must be able to learn and perform all duties of Scale House operations to include computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Internet. Tyler/MUNIS Operating Systems helpful)
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's license in state of residency.
Must possess or obtain National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) 100 and 700 within three (3) months of employment.
