2nd Shift Maintenance Department Manager

Maintenance Department Manager – 2nd Shift (Pay: $75,000 to $82,000)

Family Dollar’s busy fully automated retail distribution center in Rome, NY is looking to add an experienced Maintenance Manager to our team. This person will oversee an assigned shift’s maintenance operations and provide leadership to a team of technicians while fostering a culture of safety to keep our DC in top working order.

The role of the Maintenance Department Manager is to provide maintenance support to the DC Operation on their specified shift. This person is also responsible for a team of up to 10 hourly technicians and for planning, directing and coordinating the activities of the maintenance personnel.

• Perform routine and emergency equipment maintenance on various systems throughout the DC including Rapistan/Dematic conveyor systems, material handling equipment, high‑tech sortation/automated laser scanners, HVAC, welding equipment, and building and ground maintenance.
• Resolve equipment problems and assist in safety compliance and programs.
• Select, train, motivate, and develop staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Be able to continuously walk the Distribution Center for an extended period of time.
• Be able to lift or move up to 60 lbs.
• Be able to work flexible hours and shifts.

• High School diploma or equivalent required;
  Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Maintenance preferred.
• 3 to 5 years of related experience and/or training and 1 to 2 years of supervisory and/or management experience.

• Electrical/electronic background and experience with conveyors, welding, air compressors, scanners, electronic controls or industrial building maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals.
• Previous experience with MP2 program and PLC preferred.
• Familiarity with Radio Frequency and pick‑to‑light systems desired.
• Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills and strong planning and organization skills.

• MS Office Suite proficiency.
