Parks & Recreation Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary

The purpose of this classification is to manage and supervise an inmate work detail performing parks maintenance while ensuring the safety of the public and inmates.

• Supervises inmate work crews and ensures proper security procedures are followed.
• Plans daily work activities and assigns tasks to crew members.
• Provides instruction, direction, and oversight to inmate crews.
• Monitors work progress and ensures safety and quality standards are met.
• Issues and manages materials, tools, and equipment needed for assigned work.
• Performs and oversees general parks and facilities maintenance and repairs.
• Prepares daily reports on work activities, materials used, and project status.
• Assists in evaluating crew performance and provides input on discipline and related personnel actions.

• High School graduation or equivalent, and
• One (1) year of experience in parks maintenance, grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture, facility maintenance, athletic field maintenance, or a closely related field, or
• Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Must possess and maintain a Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification as a Basic Correctional Officer within one (1) year of hire.
