Assistant Maintenance Manager
We're working with a well-established metal manufacturing operation in the Rome, NY area that is looking to add an Assistant Maintenance Manager to their team. This is a key leadership role supporting day-to-day maintenance execution, driving reliability initiatives, and helping lead a skilled trades team in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment. This position works closely with both Maintenance and Production leadership to improve uptime, strengthen work management processes, and ensure maintenance activities align with operational goals.

Key Responsibilities Support daily maintenance operations, planning, and execution across the facility. Supervise maintenance supervisors and assist with off-shift leadership coverage. Partner with Production to prioritize work, improve equipment reliability, and reduce downtime. Drive adherence to work management processes including work identification, planning, execution, and closure. Lead and support safety initiatives including LOTO, confined space, hot work, and contractor safety. Participate in RCA efforts for major equipment failures and drive corrective actions.
Monitor KPIs related to maintenance execution, asset reliability, and work order completion. Support training programs and help maintain a structured training matrix for the maintenance team. Assist with outage planning, vendor coordination, and larger maintenance projects. Act as a technical resource for maintenance supervisors and trades personnel.
Qualifications 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong background in maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution. Experience working with CMMS systems. Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills. Solid understanding of safety standards and compliance. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field is a nice to have.
Experience with reliability, continuous improvement, or predictive maintenance programs. Exposure to capital projects or larger maintenance initiatives.
