Position: W15-Shipping Clerk-2

Shift

2nd shift – Monday–Friday – 4:00 pm–12:30 pm

Job Purpose

Position reports to the Warehouse Supervisor. Works effectively and efficiently in a warehouse environment to receive and schedule shipping and freight operations, including developing a working knowledge of warehouse organization and creating proper and detailed shipping documentation. Works with the warehouse team to ensure customer satisfaction by accepting and scheduling customer orders. Provides shipping support as required by personnel working in the Warehouse Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Check in all drivers.
  • Print all pertinent paperwork for shipping.
  • Coordinate with the dock and the drivers to determine the loading door.
  • Ensure all paperwork is properly signed by the pick‑up driver.
  • Close loads in the system.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service Teams regarding special paperwork for certain orders (e.g., international, customers that prefer special BOLs). Enter customer orders and scan/index documents as required.
  • Understand the goals, policies, and procedures of RJW.
  • Communicate customer problems, leads, and inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company information.
  • Recommend and implement approved improvements.
  • Update reports as required by the operations manager and COO.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Qualifications
  • Basic office clerical skills.
  • Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.
  • 1–2 years of clerical experience.
  • Basic transportation, logistics, and shipping experience.
Education and/or Experience Required
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Language Skills
  • Effective communication, reading, writing, and speaking in English.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
Mathematical Skills
  • Proficiency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
  • Solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables when limited standardization exists.
  • Interpreting written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions.
  • Determining the root cause of a problem and establishing corrective action.
Computer Skills
  • Knowledge of business operating systems, internet software, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
  • Leads, guides, and trains employees performing related work.
Physical Demands
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Operate phone systems utilizing keyboards and buttons.
  • Speak comfortably in front of others.
  • Work in an indoor/office environment, requiring sitting and repetitive hand motion.
  • Talk, hear, stand, and walk frequently.
  • Work overs 8 hours continuously when required.
  • Operate under stressful situations while maintaining accuracy and concentration on multiple tasks.
  • Read and discern visual images on various media with 20/20 corrected vision.
  • Communicate clearly over the telephone.
  • Maintain sound physical health as determined by a licensed physician with no evidence of controlled‑substance use.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet to moderately loud.
