POSITION TITLE:

Custodian, Lead I

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Primary

Purpose:

To maintain high standards of cleanliness in school facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Major Responsibilities and Duties

* Clean classrooms, offices, libraries, gyms, store rooms and halls.

* Secure building.

* Exhibit proper use of supplies and equipment.

* Perform tasks including, but not limited to:

* Cleaning glass, windows, walls and chalkboards

* Vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, mopping, and buffing

* Sanitizing floors and restroom areas

* Removing trash from wastebaskets and pencil sharpeners

* Help set up for PTO/PTA and other meetings

* Operate all custodial equipment.

* Check building security.

* Keep head custodian informed of night activities.

* Attendance at work is an essential function.

* Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.

EXPERIENCE:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

Education/Certification:

* High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

* Experience in custodial work or willingness to learn

* Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance and safety procedures

* Valid Texas driver's license

* Eligible for coverage under the district's vehicle insurance program

Brooms, dust mop, pans, mop buckets, mops, dusters scrapper, brushes, long handle scrappers, window scrappers, squeegies, toilet brushes, pumie scouring sticks, ladders, vacuum cleaner, scrubber, buffer, dolly, water pick up machine, lawn mower, edger, hedger, gas blower sprayer, burnisher, water pressure machine, scaffold, rotorooter, hammer, drill, screw driver, pliers, hose, long handle broom, push broom, calculator and copier.

Working Conditions:

Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds), pushing, reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, walking, standing (intermittent), kneeling (intermittent), repeated bending (intermittent), climbing (intermittent), operation of motor vehicle. Outside/inside work, exposure to humidity and heat, exposure to excessive noise (intermittent); exposure to dust, fumes, smoke or gas; exposure to solvents, grease and oil, works around machinery with moving parts, works around moving objects and vehicles, works on ladders and/or scaffolding.
