Job Summary

The B Operator position is an entry‑level role in Hydro Plant Operations responsible for continuous inspection, monitoring, and troubleshooting of industrial hydro equipment to ensure reliable and efficient operation.

• Collect and document readings
• Control operation of hydro plant equipment
• Initiate work orders to address equipment issues
• Perform minor servicing such as adding oil or changing filters
• Perform equipment isolation and alignments (electrical and mechanical)
• Conduct housekeeping to keep the plant tour‑ready
• Perform weekly FERC‑required dam inspections

In performing these tasks, the B Operator must:

• Brief shift personnel on work status and safety information
• Assist other personnel including mechanical and electrical maintenance
• Follow safety rules, regulations, and procedures
• Pass onsite training and a qualification exam to retain employment

Pre‑Employment Requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Successfully pass the written POSS/MASS Test and Physical Abilities Test, coordinated by the recruiter
• Pass a drug test and background investigation
• Qualify on a Post‑Offer Employment Physical Agility Test

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Technical degree, diploma, or certificate is a plus
• Previous work experience preferred but not required
• Experience in a power plant, manufacturing, industrial, or safety‑related setting preferred but not required

• Basic electrical and mechanical principles
• Knowledge of hand tools
• Math calculation skills
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to read, understand, and follow technical procedures, rules, and regulations
• Ability to read and interpret tables, graphs, and piping diagrams
• Ability to take measurements using gauges, digital meters, and other instruments
• Ability to work with and support team‑oriented work groups
• Open two‑way communication skills
