Classification Summary
Under general supervision, this position will maintain public parks, facilities and equipment, assist with department activities, programs and events, and construction functions for the Village of Ruidoso. Non-exempt FLSA.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. - Maintains Village parks, recreational facilities and public grounds.
- Performs various janitorial duties which include sweeping, mopping, cleaning restroom fixtures.
- Applies cleaning agents, graffiti removal chemicals
- Mow, trim, rake pine needles, remove litter or debris from parks and public grounds.
- Maintain Athletic Fields on a regular basis as well as for special events which includes cleaning of restrooms, picking up trash, and emptying trash receptacles
- Applies fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides on public grounds.
- Maintains department equipment and vehicles.
- Uses various hand tools for park improvements. (e.g. shovels, rakes, saws)
- Assist the department for a variety of activities, programs and events.
- Demonstrates community pride by diligent work performance to provide the public Top Quality facilities.
- Assist with initial start up and maintenance of Swimming Pool which includes power washing, citrus washing, painting, working of filter equipment and waxing slides.
Job Requirements
- Must have communication skills
- Ensures that time is submitted accurately, in a timely manner, and reflects actual hours worked.
- Ensures that any on-the job injury is reported to a supervisor immediately.
- Ensures that any reports of harassment are immediately reported and appropriate actions are taken.
- Attends meetings, classes and workshops.
- May require lifting boxes, equipment and occasional moving or adjustment of office furniture.
- Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting and/or moving up to 80 pounds.
- Frequently squatting, bending, or twisting required.
- May work a fairly irregular schedule, long hours, weekends, and holidays.
- May be called in to work during off hours when needed.
- Noise level could be moderate to loud in work environment.
- May work outside in adverse weather.
Limited travel - ability to travel for activities such as meetings, classes, and workshops in and out of the area. Overnight travel as required.
Minimum QualificationsMust have High School Diploma or Equivalent and two years of manual labor experience required. Prefer experience in building maintenance. Must be able to pass criminal history checks, be willing to take and pass a drug/alcohol test and comply with Village "Drug Free" Policy. Must agree to maintain a satisfactory MVR and minimum requirement of insurability as required by law. MVD background checks will be conducted by the Village of Ruidoso on an ongoing basis.
Licensesand/or Certifications
Must possess and maintain valid New Mexico motor vehicle operator's permit of appropriate classification and endorsement as required.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Knowledge ofOSHA and safety regulations, techniques of general construction, maintenance and repair of various landscaping equipment.
Skill inestablishing and maintaining routine working relationships with citizens, employees, supervisor and management; use and operation of different landscaping tools.
