The Service After Sales Contact is responsible for maintaining excellent customer relations between Taylor Machine Works (TMW) and customers of new and used equipment. The incumbent provides prompt and efficient service, ensuring customer satisfaction, facilitating repeat sales, and enhancing the company image.
Duties & Responsibilities- Consult with Service Supervisor to plan effective work and travel schedule, prioritizing customer needs and availability of parts.
- Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs or replace worn and defective parts; install new assemblies, adjust devices and controls.
- Provide tools and parts and arrange for facilities to perform repair work (usually on customer premises).
- Inspect, operate, and test machines upon initial delivery, at specified inspection intervals, and after any repair work.
- Report to Service Supervisor details such as customer name, machine description, nature of malfunction, time worked, driving, waiting, mileage, and other relevant information for accurate billing.
- Strive to increase technical skills through attendance at company-sponsored vocational schools, annual training meetings, and reading technical literature.
- Promote and enhance the company image by maintaining a neat personal appearance and keeping the service truck clean and orderly.
- For experienced or advanced servicemen: serve as troubleshooters on recurring or unusual problems, collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other service personnel to resolve issues.
- Train new servicemen or supervise a team on assembling or servicing large units or on large repair jobs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; will drive company-owned vehicle under corporate insurance.
- DOT certification (must be 21 years of age or older).
- Physical capability to stoop, bend, climb and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to stay overnight at out-of-town locations on occasion.
- Some vocational or formal schooling in hydraulics and diesel engine repair.
- Three years of on-the-job experience in diesel mechanics and hydraulics, or equivalent schooling.
- While not required, passing the AWSD
14 Welding Test is encouraged; the incumbent must pass the tacker test and may qualify for future promotions.
