Facilities Technician - Electrical & HVAC - Natomas Promenade Rack

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician II will help lead a team to provide a safe and well‑maintained store environment for Nordstrom customers and employees. This role supports the Facility Manager to ensure stores are ready for business daily, managing HVAC, vertical transportation, restaurants, entries, signs, and building systems.

• Lead and perform on‑demand and planned preventive maintenance on all critical and non‑critical equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to all store operations.
• Operate and monitor building controls and critical building systems; respond to alarms and verify proper building operation.
• Lead equipment and building rounds and readings, identifying and reporting malfunctions.
• Perform manual labor tasks such as loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials.
• Assist with administrative tasks including parts ordering, PO creation, vendor management, and attending job meetings.
• Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures and acting as a safety champion.
• Act as the face of the facilities business in place of the FM by attending store and vendor/project meetings and documenting outcomes.
• Delegate and mentor other technicians on preventive maintenance routines and system accuracy.
• Assist the FM with technical training of new employees on equipment and building systems.
• Respond to location emergencies and update the CMMS with maintenance procedures and equipment records.
• Maintain adequate parts inventory and coordinate work with outside contractors, vendors, and property managers.
• Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.

• High School Diploma or GED; associate’s degree or higher from a vocational school or college preferred.
• 5–7 years of hands‑on facilities experience with emphasis in mechanical maintenance.
• 5+ years of experience conducting predictive and preventive maintenance procedures.
• 5+ years experience with HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic input/output functions and low‑voltage signal tracing.
• Ability to work without supervision and meet multiple deadlines.
• Strong communication skills at all organizational levels, both written and verbal.
• Highly self‑motivated and able to maintain a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and off‑hours.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with a CMMS (Coupa or similar) and ordering system.
• Knowledge of computer networking systems and infrastructure.
• Experience with electromechanical operation and maintenance preferred.
• Project management experience a plus.
• Physical ability to stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and lift or carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
