Under close supervision, performs a wide variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in connection with the maintenance of County parks, roads, utility plants, pipelines, drainage ditches, and other facilities.
Positions in this classification are temporary and part‑time only. It is intended to facilitate the accomplishment of seasonal workload requirements. Employees in this classification are given close supervision and do not perform the more skilled assignments.
Ability to- Follow written and oral instructions and abide by rules and regulations.
- Learn and perform maintenance assignments.
- Read, write, and speak English at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance.
Possession of a valid California Driver's License, Class 3 (now Class
C) or higher.

General Qualifications- Minimum Age Requirement:
Applicants must be 18 years of age prior to appointment because of the hazards of the job, as defined by the Fair Labor Standard Act. - Physical Abilities:
In some positions incumbents will be required to perform heavy manual labor, which may include such tasks as digging ditches, lifting and carrying of materials such as cement bags, frequent walking and/or standing, and lifting, carrying or throwing shovels full of paving material. - Working Conditions:
Incumbents in this class are required to work out of doors in all kinds of weather and under dusty, dirty as well as hazardous conditions, and are subject to emergency or on‑call work at other than normal duty hours.
The probationary period for this classification is six (6) months.
