Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day and strategic maintenance and engineering activities for a complex manufacturing facility.
- Provide leadership and direction to maintenance and engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and employee development.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee maintenance, repair, installation, and improvement of production equipment, facilities, utilities, and plant infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain effective preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability, uptime, and operational efficiency.
- Partner with plant leadership and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, reliability, and cost performance.
- Establish maintenance priorities and effectively allocate personnel, equipment, and financial resources.
- Identify and implement solutions to recurring equipment and operational issues, improve labor utilization, reduce downtime, and control costs.
- Manage contractors and outside service providers, including obtaining bids, evaluating proposals, coordinating work, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to established quality standards.
- Support facility improvement, equipment installation, construction, and capital projects as needed.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, building, fire, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of critical facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, compressed air, and other plant utilities.
- Use maintenance and operational data to identify trends, evaluate performance, determine root causes, and drive corrective actions.
- Support applicable quality and food safety programs and collaborate with operations and quality teams to address issues that may impact product quality or customer requirements.
- Maintain effective communication with employees, plant leadership, contractors, and cross-functional partners.
- Travel as required by business needs, generally 10–15%.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Maintenance, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance, engineering, reliability, or related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience leading, developing, and managing maintenance or engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of industrial equipment, maintenance practices, reliability, preventive/predictive maintenance, and facility systems.
- Demonstrated experience driving continuous improvement, improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and increasing operational efficiency.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze data, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, business reports, and correspondence.
- Ability to apply mathematical and analytical concepts to business and operational challenges.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees, leadership, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, train, and develop employees.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and project management skills.
- Working knowledge of applicable workplace safety, environmental, building, fire, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a plant leadership team while making independent, sound decisions.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 10–15% as needed.
