Maintenance Planning Manager

Functioning under the general direction of the Operations Director of Plant Operations and Maintenance, this position is responsible for the operational coordination, management, and oversight of maintenance operations support activities, CMMS operations, infrastructure reliability programs, utility system support, and operational readiness activities across UC Davis Health facilities. The incumbent is responsible for developing, implementing, standardizing, and improving maintenance workflows, operational processes, preventive maintenance programs, planning activities, asset management processes, and operational support systems to support safe, reliable, efficient, and compliant healthcare operations.

This position provides operational and technical oversight for maintenance planning and scheduling, work order management, maintenance reporting, KPI tracking, vendor coordination, purchasing support, workflow optimization, maintenance documentation, and reliability centered maintenance initiatives. Responsibilities include supporting utility system operations, Water Management Program oversight, infrastructure reliability efforts, maintenance compliance activities, and long-range operational planning for facility systems and infrastructure throughout UC Davis Health.

The incumbent supports operational compliance and accreditation readiness activities related to Environment of Care, Life Safety, CMS, The Joint Commission, CDPH, and other applicable regulatory agencies through maintenance documentation, operational process standardization, corrective action coordination, regulatory support activities, and compliance tracking processes. This position also provides supervision, guidance, and operational support to the Environmental Health and Safety Officer and may supervise additional operational support staff, including the Policy Analyst, within Plant Operations and Maintenance.

The position supports departmental operational goals, infrastructure reliability initiatives, maintenance performance objectives, regulatory support activities, and continuous improvement efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

• Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
• Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
• At least 6 years of experience in hospital facilities, operations and maintenance, which includes CMMS systems, and regulatory compliance related to Environment of Care and Life Safety standards.
• Experience and knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Projects, and other Microsoft applications.
• Knowledge of current regulatory and maintenance standards and ability to implement current standards into a robust CMMS system.
• Skills to appropriately apply compliance management practices and procedures to meet UC Davis Health's requirements and objectives.
• Knowledge and understanding of maintenance requirements as they relate to healthcare, medical research, education, and business occupancy.
• Political acumen to work in a highly dynamic and challenging environment with changing priorities driven by a large and diverse partner and client base comprised of project managers, senior leaders, physicians, faculty, students, care provider staff, professional staff, patients, patrons of UC Davis Health, landlords, property managers, real estate developers, and more.
• Participate in weekly EOC rounding to ensure the facility remains Joint Commission ready and develop work orders or projects to correct any identified deficiencies.
• Familiarity with Joint Commission Standards, California and industry building codes and regulations pertaining to hospitals and healthcare facilities, ADA compliance, fire codes, municipal ordinances, university regulations and policies and procedures.

• Experience working in large-scale hospital, research facility and educational institution.
• Knowledge of hospital functions and general policies and procedures.
• Oral and written communication skills with an ability to deal effectively with a broad range of individuals from skilled crafts technicians to the highest levels of University's management personnel, occasionally under stressful circumstances.
