Assistant Custodian

Job Summary

The Arc of the St. Johns, Inc. is looking for a responsible, detail oriented Assistant Custodian. The hours are fulltime, Monday through Friday 3-11pm. Have your mornings and weekends off! Come achieve with us!

• Cleaning and Sanitation:
  Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums floors; cleans restrooms, windows, walls, and surfaces.
• Waste Removal:
  Empties trash cans, recycling bins, and disposes of waste according to procedures.
• Supplies Maintenance:
  Restocks restroom supplies, cleaning closets, and monitors inventory levels.
• Maintenance & Repairs:
  Performs minor repairs (e.g., replacing light bulbs) and reports major repairs to the head custodian.
• Safety & Security:
  Monitors for safety hazards, locks doors, and ensures the building is secure.

Office buildings and classrooms at our main campus, and possibly at our other locations, if needed.

• Physical Stamina:
  Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and perform manual labor.
• Equipment Operation:
  Ability to use industrial cleaning equipment like buffers, scrubbers, and vacuum cleaners.
• Knowledge of Chemicals:
  Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and safety precautions (SDS).
• Dependability:
  Ability to follow instructions, have great attendance and work in a team with lead Custodian.
