Field Crew Chief - Residential Land Surveying Position SummaryUses a variety of surveying equipment including GPS, total stations, and data collectors to determine elevations and property boundaries for title surveys and elevation certificates. The work is performed outdoors year‑round in various weather conditions. Requires the ability to lift 30 pounds frequently and up to 70 pounds occasionally (with assistance).
Position ScheduleMonday through Friday with some weekends required during seasonal months. Employees start their work day when departing from home in a company vehicle.
Responsibilities- Self‑managed, responsible, safe, and enjoy working independently.
- Perform duties assigned by the Field Manager to complete projects accurately and on time.
- Download and upload survey data to the proper files in the computer network or field data collector.
- Mark points of measurement with elevation, station number, or other identifying mark.
- Cut and clear brush and trees from line of survey.
- Maintain quality of data in the field; independently perform accurate simple calculations as needed.
- Maintain equipment and vehicle, ensuring proper equipment and supplies each morning and returning remaining equipment and supplies at end of shift.
- Fully adhere to Exacta’s policies, procedures, and work directives.
- Resolve internal/external customer issues promptly and professionally.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, managers, clients, and other parties as it relates to Exacta’s services and overall business.
- Perform all duties as assigned to meet business needs safely, ethically, and professionally.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two years job‑related experience in the surveying industry desired.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record meeting insurance requirements.
- Strong math skills – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and application of units of weight, volume, and distance; understanding of algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
- Ability to operate instruments required for the collection or distribution of survey data (total station, data collector, GPS).
- Proficient in the independent application and use of job‑related software, e‑technology, and cloud‑based solutions.
