PURPOSE:

To work in the county recycling facility processing recyclable materials and operating heavy machinery. The position will routinely oversee recycling operations alone and during scheduled or unscheduled absences/vacations of the site supervisor. Recycle Works - West location: 2110

JOB DESCRIPTION:

* Assists Recycling Center Supervisor in overall operations of the recycling center

* Unloads and processes household hazardous waste, refrigerators, washers/dryers, 65+ inch televisions, etc.

* Operates a variety of equipment including, but not limited to forklift/bobcat with multiple attachments, baling equipment, compacting equipment, crushing and grinding equipment, and hoist and loading equipment

* May perform grounds maintenance tasks

* May perform equipment maintenance and repair tasks

* Will work alone some days with intermittent customer interactions

* Will accept cash payments from customers and issue a receipt and change

* Works with a computer and software

* Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

* Graduation from a general or technical high school or equivalent

* Ability to lift up to 75 pounds

* Prefer equipment experience (forklift, bobcat, bailing/compacting)

* Other education, skills, and equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience may be considered.
