1st shift- Custodian

Position Title: Custodian

Wage: $19.21 per hour

Shift: 1st (6:00am-2:30pm Mon-Fri)

• Set up and operate cleaning equipment.
• Clean, sanitize, and supply bathrooms and kitchens.
• Replenish supplies such as hand soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
• Follow cleaning and maintenance schedules for office, plant, and grounds.
• Regularly empty trash and recycling receptacles.
• Clean floors, windows, fixtures, stairs, restrooms, break rooms, and doors.
• Assist with setup and tear down of furnishings when necessary.
• Perform preventative maintenance of cleaning equipment and hand tools to keep them in good working order.
• Perform routine maintenance such as changing light bulbs, waxing floors, and cleaning furniture.
• Use, maintain, and properly store all custodial equipment and supplies.
• Keep both plant and office clean, safe, and organized.
• Maintain a list of cleaning supplies and proactively request additional inventory.
• Report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards to the appropriate department.
• Perform minor repairs.
• Proactively lead temporary associates.
• Make suggestions to save time and costs.
• Perform all tasks with little or no supervision.
• Perform tasks safely, including wearing safety glasses and gloves as described in JHA requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Self-motivated to complete all tasks in a safe, efficient, and ergonomically correct manner.
• Work experience as a custodian, janitor or similar role preferred.
• Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Understanding of safety protocols such as disposal of chemicals and other hazardous items.
• Diligence and conscientiousness.
• Capacity to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach to work overhead.
• Walk or stand for a minimum of 8 hours with limited breaks.
• Push and pull materials, fingers, and grasp parts and components.
• Exert up to fifty pounds of force frequently.
• Tolerate extremes in weather and machine temperature.
• Tolerate loud noise.
• Extensive use of power/hand tools.
• Require visual acuity to access details (e.g., prints, parts, work orders).
• Require communication skills so ideas and instructions can be given clearly and quickly and understood.
• Require the ability to distinguish between speech, machinery, and other sounds to understand instructions and directions.
