Great Lakes Yacht Club Facilities and Operations Assistant

St. Clair Shores, MI 48080 - $17.78 - $24.00 / hour - full time

Job Description

GLYC, is a private yacht club, founded in 1952, and is located on the Nautical Mile in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. The 7.9-acre site includes a 6,500 square foot clubhouse and features beautiful park like grounds, a swimming pool, 118 boat wells, a 30-ton travel lift and two gin poles. Approximately 120 boats are stored on the grounds in the off season.

These boats include power and sail (mast up and mast down), between 13 feet to 50 feet.

  • Scheduling of boat launch and haul out with members
  • Boat launching and hauling, spring and fall
  • Bottom wash of boats during haulout process and on member request during boating season
  • Moving, shoring and storing boats of varies sizes
  • Club event setup and tear down
  • Facility maintenance, including but not limited to:
    • Clubhouse Maintenance
      • Minor electrical and plumbing repairs
      • Painting
    • Grounds Maintenance
      • Grass cutting
      • Snow removal
      • Water system winterizing and maintenance
      • Swimming pool operations
  • Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or Commodore

Work Hours, Benefits and Compensation – This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position, 5 days a week and most Sundays during the boating season (April 15 – Nov. 15). Work week during boating season is Sunday – Thursday. During launch and haulout, work week six days per week (Monday – Saturday). Work week off boating season (Nov. 15 – April 15) is Monday – Thursday.

The hours are from 7:30am to 4:00pm, with a one hour paid lunch period. The position reports directly to the GLYC Facilities Manager.

Experience and Education
  • Two years of marina and facilities maintenance experience
  • High School diploma
