Custodial Specialist for the Washington County Building Maintenance Department

Full Time - With Benefits

$18.50 PER HOUR

Washington County is seeking a reliable and hardworking Custodial Specialist to help maintain clean, safe, and functional county facilities. This entry‑level position performs a variety of custodial and basic maintenance duties both indoors and outdoors, supporting daily operations across multiple locations.

• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of county facilities.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, breakrooms, and common areas.
• Empty trash, clean walls, doors, windows, and drinking fountains.
• Monitor and restock custodial supplies; report shortages.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, pressure washers, and other tools.
• Conduct outdoor cleaning of parking areas and recreational courts.
• Perform basic facility security checks (e.g., door locks).
• Assist with event setup (tables, chairs, podiums).
• Perform minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license required

• Basic understanding of custodial practices, tools, and cleaning agents.
• Ability to safely operate or learn powered cleaning equipment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and repetitive motion.
