Water & Wastewater Operator  Department:
Development  Status: FT Year Round Hourly  Reporting To: VP, Mountain Construction

Position Overview:

Powder Mountain Water and Sewer Improvement District is seeking a dependable, safety-minded Water and Wastewater Operator to help maintain the infrastructure that keeps our community's water and sewer systems running reliably. This is a hands-on field position responsible for the pro-active upkeep, repair, maintenance, and monitoring of the District's distribution and collection systems, pump stations, treatment lagoons, and related facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

* Maintain, monitor, and repair water mains, hydrants, meters, pumps, storage tanks and District infrastructure
* Locate and operate valves to safely shut down service for repairs, and notify affected property owners in advance
* Install, replace, and repair water meters and master valves for service extensions
* Read and record water meters on a monthly basis
* Respond to SCADA system and customer alarms to ensure water availability, system integrity, and resident safety – including after typical working hours and during weekends/holidays.
* Inspect booster and well pumps and storage tanks daily and complete required inspection reports
* Inspect fire hydrants and valves on a schedule set by the Supervisor
* Maintain and inspect manholes, wet wells, and lift stations daily and complete required reports
* Monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges; record readings and operational data
* Collect and test water and sewage samples; document and report results to regulatory agencies
* Add chemicals such as chlorine or ammonia to disinfect water and other liquids as required
* Operate equipment used to purify, clarify, and treat water and process or dispose of sewage
* Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, infrastructure, and work areas
* Inspect and review contractor work for compliance with District standards and specifications
* Coordinate with contractors and builders for construction water needs and usage
* Follow all OSHA and EPA safety standards and regulations, and inform the Supervisor of any equipment issues

Requirements and/or

Qualifications:

* At least 18 years of age
* High school diploma or GED
* Must reside within 30 minutes of District boundaries to ensure timely emergency response
* Working knowledge of water/sewer utility principles, practices, and methods
* Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well with the public and supervisors
* Preferred Unrestricted Grade I Distribution Certification with the State of Utah or ability to obtain within…
