Head Groundskeeper

Position Summary

12‑Month position for the  school year. Responsible for supervising and participating in the maintenance of district grounds, participating in the employee selection process, and assisting in training new employees.

• 2 to 5 years of job‑related prior experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Commercial Driver’s License.
• Completion of Asbestos Awareness Program.

• Direct and distribute labor assignments to groundskeepers.
• Evaluate conditions of district grounds and recommend improvements.
• Participate in employee selection process.
• Oversee preparation of athletic fields and playgrounds.
• Coordinate snow and ice removal.
• Train new employees or delegate training duties and evaluate performance.
• Safely maintain grounds beauty—cut grass, control weeds, trim, landscape, care for plants, trees, shrubs.
• Haul dirt, sand, gravel, mulch.
• Operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment and ensure safety.
• Move heavy objects and equipment.
• Repair fences and install asphalt/concrete as needed.
• Coordinate groundskeeping projects within the district.
• Assist other maintenance personnel as needed.
• Serve as substitute custodian as needed.

Compensation for experience is considered, 2025‑2026 Classified Salary Schedule.
