Janitor, Maintenance​/Cleaning, Cleaning Services

Location: Hazelwood, MO

Schedule: Part Time – 15 hours per week

Grade/Salary: $16–18/hr + $5.09 H&W

The Janitor will provide support to the US Army Corps of Engineers – St. Louis District facilities by providing various cleaning services. Responsibilities include floor care, dusting, restroom services, window/glass cleaning, and garbage/recyclable removal. The position requires use of cleaning products, chemicals, vacuums, mops, wringers, dust tools, and floor machines.

• Follow all rules and regulations related to entering and leaving the building.
• Maintain physical fitness to perform assigned duties.
• Follow all security, OPSEC, and safety rules and regulations.
• Maintain regular communication with the Project Manager via phone, text, or email.
• Fill out and submit a service ticket for each day’s work and update the restroom cleaning chart as needed.
• Follow established procedure methods for handling and mixing chemicals.
• Adhere to the contractual cleaning schedule and provide adequate documentation for each task on the service tickets.
• Track supply inventory and notify the Project Manager when items need to be restocked.
• Keep the janitor closet clean, organized, and odor‑free.
• Perform the following tasks at industry best practices:
  • Remove trash and recyclables.
  • Sweep, dust, and damp mop floors.
  • Vacuum all carpet floors.
  • Interior glass and window cleaning, including mirrors, plexi‑glass, and frames.
  • Semi‑annual exterior window/frame cleaning.
  • Annual floor stripping, sealing, polishing, and waxing.
  • Monthly spot wax and spray buff as needed.
  • Annual carpet cleaning/steam cleaning.
  • Sweep, clean, and wash entry staircases and entryways.
  • Maintain and clean entryway rugs and floor underneath.
  • Dust high and low surfaces.
  • Clean drinking fountains.
  • Service and clean restrooms, wall tile, walls, dividers, fixtures, and hard‑water deposits.
  • Tile and grout cleaning.
  • Restock toilet paper, hand soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels, trash bags, etc.
  • Clean light fixtures, ventilation grills, louvers, vents, and break area.
  • Conduct general litter patrol around exterior office buildings, removing debris and disposing of trash in dumpsters.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of custodial experience with knowledge and skills relevant to the role.
• Must be able to pass a background check.

• Work requires lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Requires standing, walking, pushing, pulling heavy equipment, and considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing.
• Primarily performed indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks and exposure to weather.
