Maintenance Technician – St Louis, MO,

Job Summary

Cardinal Ritter Senior Services, a ministry of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, seeks an on-site Maintenance Technician to perform preventive and ongoing maintenance, including custodial care, to ensure properties and buildings are safe, functional, and well‑maintained.

Overview and Responsibilities
  • Daily inspect building(s) and grounds, inside and outside, to determine needs for repairs and clean up.
  • Perform a wide variety of building and equipment repair, maintenance work and apartment turnovers.
  • Perform painting, drywall repairs, electrical repairs, HVAC repairs, PTAC replacement, plumbing, carpentry, equipment testing and maintenance.
  • Perform service, filter change and cleaning of HVAC and PTAC units.
  • Perform custodial duties in case of the absence of other staff.
  • Keep time and material records of all work orders and manage supply inventory.
  • Assist the Maintenance Department in overseeing and escorting outside contractors, including inspections of building systems such as fire panels, elevators and boilers.
  • Maintain all building and maintenance equipment, including snow removal and lawn cutting.
  • Maintain all buildings, lawns, walkways and drives clear of debris or obstruction.
  • Maintain landscaping, flowerbeds, bushes, grass, etc., keeping them trimmed and clear of weeds.
  • Respond to requests from management regarding safety and security issues.
  • Respond immediately to all emergencies.
  • Represent Cardinal Ritter Senior Services in a caring, professional manner.
  • Maintain CRSS cell phone, charged and available for emergency response at all times.
  • Work with the maintenance supervisor on biannual and special projects.
  • Keep a clean shop and an organized inventory of all parts and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Experience Requirements
  • Experience in custodial and service fields, including some experience in skilled trades such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting or carpentry.
  • Knowledge of acceptable trade practices and building standards.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
Skills and Competencies Required
  • Conduct daily inspections of work areas.
  • Maintain tools and equipment for safe use.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Utilize the work order system.
  • Keep the work area safe, clean and free of spills, debris and hazards.
  • Safely operate ladders, lifts and tools.
  • Prioritize work effectively.
  • Meet and exceed work‑order deadlines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of heating systems – HVAC.
  • Perform building inspections and report issues promptly.
  • Work as a team or independently.
  • Willingly follow direction from supervisors.
Resources for Which Responsible
  • Maintain tools and equipment owned by the site.
  • Keep common areas in and around the buildings clean and well‑maintained.
  • Ability to lift 80 lbs.
