Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish Extended Care is part of the Barnes-Jewish continuum of top ranked, compassionate care. It is a 120-bed skilled nursing facility, located at 401 Corporate Park Drive in Clayton, Missouri. Organized as a hospital-based facility, Barnes-Jewish Extended Care is under the direction of Barnes-Jewish Hospital medical staff with full support of laboratory and rehabilitation departments. Services range from minimal assistance to subacute post-hospital recovery.

Our patients range from the young to the elderly, as well as post-trauma rehabilitation patients and those in need of hospice or respite care. The Housekeeping Department at BJEC is responsible for delivering a clean and safe environment of care for our patients and residents.

The Industrial Housekeeper is an environmental services worker who transports bed, equipment and supplies throughout the hospital and checks and monitors trash chutes. Responsible for daily housekeeping services as assigned, using procedures as outlined by the hospital or service organization.

• Transports and/or lifts housekeeping equipment, patient beds, trash, linen and other special deliveries throughout hospital campus.
• Operates AGVs and other equipment according to established processes, keeping equipment clean and functional. Reports defects to supervisor.
• Maintains trash chute rooms and carts.
• Handles hazardous and infectious waste properly and responds to emergency spills according to procedure.
