Job Summary

The Facilities Technician assists the Operations Manager or Manager on Duty with the implementation of safety plans, operating standards and guidelines, troubleshooting, repairs, and performing preventive maintenance required to maintain the physical assets of the property.

Responsibilities
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various building systems.
  • Operate equipment to perform preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and maintain property cleanliness.
  • Perform maintenance/minor repair activities on interior and exterior areas, including painting, drywall, parking lots, sidewalks, plumbing repairs, drain clearance, lighting, flooring, and roof.
  • Assist with inventory systems, records, files, material safety data sheets, supplies, equipment, and tools.
  • Repair, modify, and move retail merchandising units as needed.
  • Assist in event set‑up and the installation/take‑down of mall décor.
  • Perform interior and exterior custodial duties such as sweeping, vacuuming, steam cleaning, trash removal, operating compactor, and landscaping.
  • Assist with snow removal by vehicle or hand (if applicable).
  • Adhere to GGP’s Safety, Health, and Environment Policy and all applicable standards, policies, regulatory guidelines (including OSHA).
  • Engage in training and continuing education to develop knowledge, skills, and competencies required to work safely.
  • Assist with emergency planning and response in coordination with the management team.
  • Provide assistance and interact with the public and tenants as needed; shift work including evenings, weekends, and emergency response is required.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in building maintenance or a related field.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Strong communication skills with management, employees, tenants, and external contacts.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, plans, schematic drawings, and comprehend instructions.
  • Self‑starter capable of working independently.
  • 2‑year Technical School Graduate or trade certificate is a plus.
  • OSHA General Industries 10‑Hour course is a plus.
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn Microsoft Outlook.
  • Bilingual skills are welcomed.
Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Often required to climb, smell, stoop, kneel, bend, balance, crouch, or crawl. May lift or move up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Noise level is usually moderate. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and outside weather conditions is possible.
