Position: Custodian-Engineer I

Join our team! The St. Paul Public Library is seeking a skilled and dependable Custodian-Engineer I to help maintain safe, clean, and fully functional facilities that support our staff and the community we serve. This position plays a critical frontline role in building operations assisting with the maintenance of heating and cooling systems, maintaining high custodial standards, and responding to day-to-day facility needs.

The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, understands the importance of preventative maintenance, and is committed to delivering reliable service in a public-facing environment.

We currently have one vacancy with the St. Paul Libraries. The eligible list created from this exam will be used to fill Custodian-Engineer I positions as they become available within the City.

Information specific to department vacancy

A typical working schedule for this position is 7:00 a.m.

- 3:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Position will be assigned to a primary library branch but expected to cover all branches when needed. Weekends and holidays are required if snow removal is needed or there is an urgency/emergency, but not as part of typical work schedule.

Essential Functions are the functions that the individual holding the position must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation.   • Experience performing cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Special Engineer Boiler’s License.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.

For positions in the Saint Paul Public Library and Saint Paul Public Works:
Must obtain a Second Class C (2C) Boiler License within fifteen months.

    Qualifications Rating is an assessment of your completed application and answers to Supplemental Questionnaire.
