JOB SUMMARY

The primary purpose of this temporary position is to provide services for campus building maintenance and grounds maintenance care and operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Perform and assist with building and furniture repair in Residence Halls.

* Perform various material handling and campus delivery activities. Operate forklift and other bulk material handling equipment.

* Assist with general painting of walls and other surfaces.

* Perform and assist with various building maintenance and mechanical repair work utilizing work order systems including changing light fixture lamps.

* Moving and rearranging office, classroom and lounge furniture and equipment. Perform furniture assembly and adjustment.

* Assist with the maintenance of campus storage spaces.

* Assist with and perform various trash and recycling activities including general litter cleanup.

* Assist with grounds and exterior site maintenance including snow and ice removal.

* Respond to campus emergencies during off-hours.

* Work and communicate with other Facilities Services staff including student workers.

* All other duties as requested.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the:
Director of Facilities Operations and Management. Assists and works with all other Facilities Service personnel as required.

BUDGET MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is not responsible for the management of a budget.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KEY COMPETENCIES

* Ability to work independently and with a team.

* Proven ability to make responsible facility maintenance decisions and complete work tasks in a professional manner.

* Ability to provide excellent service and communication to University customers, and Facilities Services team members.

* Have basic knowledge and skills in proper methods and operation of building maintenance systems and tools.

* Working knowledge of proper material handling methods and general building maintenance and care.

* Ability to perform the physical demands of the work; lifting of 50 pounds, working on ladder and from heights.

* Ability to adjust to changing workloads and schedules.

* Experience and sensitivity working with staff and customers from diverse backgrounds.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

* Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent.

* Must be 18 years or older.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

* 3+ years or more experience in a general maintenance or closely related building maintenance position.

REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION

* Valid MN Driver's License or equivalent.

* Successfully pass a required criminal background check.

WORKING CONDITIONS / EQUIPMENT

Must perform these essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations:

* Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including warm and humid spaces and outside during the summer and cold winter weather outside.

* Ability to repetitively lift objects and materials 50-70 lbs.

* Ability to work at heights on ladders and in building construction environments.

* Operate University vehicles, utility carts, forklift, general maintenance equipment and tools.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

* This is a temporary, full time, 1.0 FTE, non-exempt position requiring 40 hours per week.
